Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for viewing our sight! The brick floor is similar in cleaning as an authentic terra cotta tile floor, in the sense that the finished product is not visually shiny bright and sparkling clean. We sealed our bricks which keeps them from being absorbent—assisting with spills leaving a stain. Our cleaning process is to vacuum the floor well and damp string mop the floor with water. Due to the age of the bricks and irregular surfaces the floor is not perfectly clean I suppose—but very forgiving for a house of active people and our golden retriever puppy with muddy paws. I believe whether or not this surface is amenable is a personal decision. For us, at Rooster Ridge, we adore the warm appearance, the conversations which are evoked and the easy care!

I found your blog looking for interesting bricks with brand names on them. Did you know that there is an International Brick Collectors Association (IBCA)? If you ever want more interesting bricks (and trust me there are some REALLY interesting ones) let me know and we can put you on to some if you want. (Check out http://www.buffaloah.com/a/DCTNRY/mat/brk/clement/intro/intro.html) Nice pictures and good job!!!
